Light setup
A stripe, crystal, cube or panel has a section of its own on its settings page - the gear at the top of the lamp's page: Light and segments. It says what the light is, which LEDs it drives and how it is divided into parts. An Ice Light comes set up and has none of this.
Kind of light
The picture and the name at the top show what the light is. Change kind of light picks another kind - the light then starts with that kind's parts, and its name follows unless you gave it one of your own.
LEDs
- How many LEDs there are and the pin they are on. A cube's number follows from its size - six faces of 4×4, 5×5 or 8×8 - and a panel light's from its panels.
- On a stripe, Add an output for each further run of LEDs on a pin of its own - up to four - and ✕ takes one away. The runs play as one light, in this order.
- On a crystal, Crystal and base on two separate data pins: tick it when they are wired that way, and each gets its own number of LEDs and pin.
- On a panel light, Each panel is the number of LEDs across and down, and Panels how many panels there are, across and down.
- How the panels are wired, on a cube or a panel light: where the first LED of a panel is, seen from the front, whether the LEDs run in rows or in columns, and whether back and forth. Panels usually come all wired the same way; tick Not all wired the same way to set each one.
- More has the colour order and the Power supply: the brightness is held down so that the LEDs never draw more than this, in mA - 0 for no limit.
Where each panel is
On a cube or a panel light, every panel is listed in the order the LED chain runs through them. For each one:
- Light up shows which one it is.
- Say where it is - on a cube Bottom, Side 1 to Side 4 or Top.
- Say how far it is turned, clockwise, seen from the front: Not turned, A quarter turn, Half a turn or Three quarters.
Two checks show whether it is right:
- Check corners gives every corner of the light a colour of its own. On a cube, the three LEDs that meet at a corner have to show the same colour; on a panel light, the corners of panels that meet. A panel whose corners do not match its neighbours' is on the wrong face or turned. In its middle each panel shows its number in the chain as dots, like a die - on a 4×4 face as that many LEDs round its edge.
- Which way up lights every panel in its colour with one edge white. On a cube's sides the white edge has to be along the top; on the top and the bottom, it is the edge they share with Side 1. On a panel light it has to be along the top. The yellow corner is the left end of the white edge - if it is at the other end, that panel is wired the other way round.
Stop ends the checks. Whatever you change here shows on the light straight away; Save keeps it.
Segments
The parts of the light, each with its own effect, palette and colours on the lamp's page and in the cloud panel - up to eight, each with a name.
- On a stripe or a crystal, each part runs from one LED to another, counted from 1; Rev. runs it backwards. Split the last one divides the last part in two, and Back to the crystal's - or the stripe's - brings back the parts it came with: on a stripe of several runs, one part per run. Whole stripe as one makes them a single part.
- On a cube: Whole cube as one - an effect then runs round the cube and over its edges onto the top and the bottom - Top, sides, bottom, or Each face.
- On a panel light: Whole light as one, One per panel, or Add one and give its columns and rows, counted from the top left.
Saving
Light up each part lights every part in its own colour for a moment, so you can see where it is. Save light setup - or Save at the top of the page - keeps it all, and the light restarts its LEDs.
If the page says the LEDs the light drives do not match its setup, the number of LEDs or the matrix was changed on another settings page. Check the numbers and save to put it right.
DMX
DMX is in the DMX firmware for these lights, a firmware of its own - a light on the standard one does not show this box. DMX output sends the light out on DMX, through an interface (a MAX485) wired to a pin of its own. It is an extra and off unless you switch it on: off, it takes no pin. Switched on, it goes on GPIO2 - or, when the LEDs use that, on the next free pin - and DMX pin picks another (on an ESP32-C3 never GPIO18 or 19, the USB port's).
Set up the DMX map opens the DMX settings page: the first fixture's start address, the channels per fixture, how far apart the fixtures start, the first LED sent, and what each channel sends - red, green, blue, white, the brightness as a shutter channel, or a fixed 0 or 255. Each LED is one fixture. Its Back and Save bring you back to this page.
