What kind of light it is
An Ice Light knows what it is, so it skips this. A stripe, crystal, cube or panel runs one firmware made for all of them, and the first time it starts it asks what it is:
- Switch the light on and connect to its own network, as in Connecting a lamp to your Wi-Fi. It is called Trip-Light- and four characters, like Trip-Light-7D3F.
- The page asks What kind of light is this? Pick it: Stripe, Crystal, Cube 4×4, Cube 5×5, Cube 8×8 or Panel. If the light was set up before - with WLED, for example - the page marks the kind it found from that; tap it to confirm, or pick what the light really is.
- Check its LEDs: how many there are and the pin they are on. A cube's number follows from its size. A stripe of several runs, each on a pin of its own, gets Add an output for every run after the first. For a crystal, tick Crystal and base on two separate data pins if they are wired that way. For a panel light, give the size of Each panel - LEDs across and down - and how many Panels there are, across and down. More has the colour order and the limit of the power supply.
- Choose This is my light. Each part lights up in its own colour for a moment, so you can see where it is. Then the page goes on to Set up Wi-Fi, as for every lamp.
The light is now named after its kind - Crystal-7D3F, Cube-7D3F and so on - unless you gave it a name of your own. Its own network takes the new name from its next start.
A light that is already on your Wi-Fi asks the same on its settings page, under Light and segments. Everything chosen here can be changed there later - and on a cube or a panel light, that is where you check next where each panel is. See Light setup.
