The Lights page
Every lamp on your account is listed here, by group, with:
- its battery level and its Wi-Fi signal - crossed out in red while the lamp is offline,
- the lamp with rays - Identify: the lamp flashes white twice, so you can tell which one it is. Then it shows what it showed before; nothing about it changes,
- the gear, at the right of the lamp's name: the lamp's own Local Sync (radio waves), Audio reactive (music note) and Ableton Link (link) buttons, lit while on - with what Link is doing under them while it is on - and its network audio mode; below them, rename the lamp or move it to another group, each saved with the disk button beside it, or remove it from your account. While the lamp is offline only the lower part is there,
- a switch and a brightness slider, with Effects & colour beside them - the full control panel, see below.
Point at a button to see its name and what it does.
Show online only hides the lamps that are not connected right now, and Sort lights changes their order.
The page stays up to date by itself - changes made at a lamp, or on another phone, show without reloading.
Previews
A synced group shows a small lamp on its card, playing the effect exactly as the group's lamps play it, in step with them. In a group that is not synced, every lamp gets its own small lamp beside its name instead, showing its own effect and colours. A lamp that is switched off or offline shows unlit.
Every light is drawn as what it is: an Ice Light as its lamp, a stripe as a stripe, a crystal as it is built, a panel as its matrix and a cube in 3D, with its LEDs as they are - each part with its own look. Drag a cube to turn it. A synced group with cubes in it shows its biggest cube that is online.
Which previews appear is up to you, under Account settings.
Effects & colour
The control panel has three tabs, with the brightness slider at the top:
- Colours - the three colours and the palettes. While a synced group plays Random Cycle, its options show here. The lamp's own palettes - Custom 0, Custom 1 and so on - come last, each with a cloud button that saves it to your Palettes. Beside the search, Colour orders the palettes by their colours instead of the lamp's order.
- Effects - every effect, each with a small strip showing what it looks like in your palette and colours. Search, or filter them by type. Beside the search, Colour orders them by the colour each shows in your palette and colours. The strips show a still picture; Animate makes them move - older computers and phones can find that heavy, so it is off until you switch it on, and it is remembered on each device. The Link filter shows the effects that play to Ableton Link's beat, marked with the link. On a panel light the list has WLED's 2D effects too, with a 2D filter; on a cube a 3D filter, for the cube's own 3D effects and the 2D ones, which run round the cube - and 2D / 3D for a group with both. Their strips play on a small cube. The sliders of the effect that is playing stay under the list, and for effects that react to sound, Sound sim picks the beat they move to when the lamp hears no sound - see Sound.
- Presets - the lamp's presets, or the group's if it keeps them synced. Tap one to play it. Each shows a small lamp with its look, as on your Presets page - playing while Live previews is on there; a playlist shows its sign, and the one playing is marked. The pencil renames or renumbers it (or edits a playlist), and the cloud button saves it to your Presets - unless a preset with the same settings is there already. + Save current look saves what the lamp shows now as a new preset, and + New playlist makes a playlist from the presets here. A preset keeps the look, never the brightness.
On a light with parts - a stripe, crystal, cube or panel divided into segments, see Light setup - buttons under the title choose All or one part. The Colours and Effects tabs then show and change that part, which has its own On and brightness slider. A part that does not follow its group is marked: ↪ when it follows a shared sync of its own, ○ when it keeps its own look - see Parts of lights.
On the Presets tab, the power sign shows which preset or playlist the lamp starts with when it is switched on - lit on that one. Tap it on another to start with that one instead. For a group that keeps its presets synced it is for every lamp in the group, and a lamp that is away picks it up when it is back.
Replacing a preset that a playlist plays - saving the current look over it, or moving another preset or playlist to its number - tells you which playlist plays it before anything is changed: the playlist then plays the new one.
Under the Colours and Effects tabs, a lamp shows what the lamp or group looks like, including a change the moment you make it.
Opened for a single lamp, the panel has Identify beside its name too.
Runtime
On a lamp with a battery, the line under the panel's header says how long it is to last. Last until… offers a few durations - or pick a time with until - and shows the time it comes to before you choose Set. A target is at most 10 hours away, and no shorter than the lamp lasts at full brightness anyway - in a group, the lamp with the emptiest battery; the panel says how long that is. The lamp then dims itself very slowly to last until then - see Battery. The line shows the time and how far it has dimmed; Change sets another, Clear lets it run at the brightness you set again.
Opened for a group, it is for every lamp of the group, each dimming for its own battery. A lamp that is offline, or has no battery, is left out - you are told which.
